Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Lack of access to safe drinking water is one of problems poor families in Afghanistan have to face and contribute to poor health outcomes.  Only 42 % of Afghan has access to safe drinking water. This is a one of the most urgent needs and issue to be addressed. Assalam Welfare Foundation is active in implementing clean water project in different areas of the country to ensure the provision of safe drinking water to vulnerable communities by digging and drilling wells and installing hand pumps, installing solar powered pumps in the most disadvantageous and isolated regions of Afghanistan. The organization has yet implemented safe water projects and Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kabul, Badakhshan, Takhar, Herat and Badghis provinces and has plan to reach the most vulnerable communities in other provinces in  future.
